Stella Du started her career as a Management Trainee for Vice President Human Resources Sofitel Asia Pacific, Mr. Dirk-Jan Rijks, in Singapore in Aug 2011. Mr Rijks was her first mentor, who enabled the base of her career and professional success.
Prior to this, she volunteered for a 2-month unpaid internship at Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental. This was kindly arranged by Mr. Rijks to help her gain better insight and understanding about Sofitel and Human Resources. During the 2 months, Stella learned quickly via the detailed cross training which was fully supported by the entire hotel team. This helped a lot to start and work smoothly during her first trip overseas.
During her time in Singapore, she worked on policies & procedures and standard operational procedures updates, best practices, regional ambassador (employee) succession planning, General Manager recruitment, etc. Stella also assisted with the regional training preparations for Mr. Rijks. Furthermore she conducted mini orientation for junior and newcomers in the regional office.
This was the beginning of her journey in training.
After the 6-month Management Trainee program, Stella returned to Shanghai and started her professional career as a Training Supervisor in Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental. In 2013 she was promoted to Assistant Training Manager in charge of the Training department and was appointed Training Manager 6 months later. March 2014, she joined Accor WAAG (Women at Accor Generation) Greater China Committee, assisting to organize women theme activities within Eastern China and in the hotel.
Stella successfully combined the know-how with work and other commitments, proving herself to be self-motivated, organized and capable of working under pressure. She has a clear mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion, believing there is always room for self-improvement both personally and professionally. She works with passion and creation. The routine operations of the training department is well organized; ambassador (employee) satisfaction of training courses and activities has also increased. Stella created the Intra-hotel Cross Training Program, the Yes Day Program, the Trainee Motivation Program, etc. in the hotel, with great feedbacks and results. Whenever there is a training or activity, Stella always ensures everything is well designed, organized and followed.
