Moxy Hotels is Marriott International’s newest, most innovative economy lifestyle brand. Moxy is a completely new approach to catering to the rapidly emerging millennial traveler.
The Moxy Hotels brand is defined by its attitude – the affordable price is just a pleasant surprise. Moxy’s brand essence is best captured by Now & Wow. Moxy is spirited – always buzzing with high energy, interesting people and an energetic crew. Moxy is fun.
With Moxy, Marriott International offers a new way of traveling in which smaller means concentration- not reduction. Affordability is not a sacrifice of style, nor a loss of comfort. Relevant services are important because with Moxy, when we say: “less is more”, we accentuate more. Not less. Moxy provides all of the services that our guests really want- and nothing they don’t want. They appreciate the idea of hospitality over service: they want to be welcomed, and to help themselves. The Moxy guest knows that the best service is self-service, so bellboys don’t appeal to them, and they are happy with grab & go F&B options that are available 24/7.Rooms are equipped with plenty of USB sockets and furiously fast (and free) Wi-Fi, so guests can always stay connected. Rooms also have tech savvy features to appeal to guests, such as Apple TV, keyless mobile entry, and motion sensor lighting under beds.
Not only does Moxy offer a stylish, engaging experience to guests- it also provides an attractive opportunity to owners. With Moxy, Marriott provides owners with a turnkey solution, with ready-made, easy to implement concepts for both interior and exterior design. Additionally, Moxy comes with the ability to plug into all of Marriott’s award winning systems- most notably Marriott Rewards, which has over 55 million members globally, and Marriott.com, the 10th largest retail website.
One of the most unique aspects of Moxy operations is in the staffing model. Instead of front desk associates, bar tenders, concierges- Moxy has Crew. The Crew is responsible for tackling whatever guest throw at them: from checking in & out, mixing drinks, and giving advice on what is going on in town- the Crew can do it all. Instead of a formal director, the Crew is led by a Captain, who works right alongside the Crew to encourage a collaborative environment. This staffing model has proven to be an effective way to reduce staffing costs, while still delivering personal service.
Since opening our first Moxy location in Milan back in 2014, the brand has taken off and is spreading like wildfire. Six hotels are now open and over 50 are signed. By 2020, our goal is to have 25,000 rooms signed. Moxy’s immediate success is due to the brand’s universal appeal to customers all over Europe and in the US. Moxy offers a completely new way to approach the economy hotel market. Traditionally known for being characterized by bland, boring, and bare budget hotels, the economy tier was poised for a revolution… and we’ve created one by introducing Moxy to the market.
