The project:

At the end of 2023, Groupe Barrière launched the innovative "Barrière Senior Program," a recruitment initiative aimed at young retirees. Recognizing the value of intergenerational collaboration, the program offers tailor-made contracts to attract new talent while enriching its teams with experienced professionals.

This program spans all hospitality professions within Groupe Barrière's portfolio, including reception, housekeeping, and food and beverage services. Its key objective is to provide young retirees with flexible opportunities to continue professional activity. Tailored contracts allow candidates to select their preferred hours and tasks, accommodating individual preferences, physical capabilities, and the desire to learn new skills or explore different professions.

The Barrière Senior Program addresses a dual challenge: meeting the group’s staffing needs while leveraging the expertise of retirees. Their wealth of experience contributes to team dynamics, mentorship, and the overall service quality Barrière is known for.

The campaign, launched in September 2023, has already achieved remarkable results. It received 1,400 applications within the first year, leading to 83 hires in 2024 and a 97% increase in hiring from this demographic. Flexible working hours and supportive work environments were highlighted as critical factors in its success.

Communication efforts included targeted campaigns across digital platforms and local recruitment fairs, emphasizing Barrière’s commitment to intergenerational collaboration and the inclusion of diverse profiles. Testimonials from participants and HR leaders underscored the mutual benefits of the initiative. André Decoutere, Executive Vice President of Human Resources, stated, “The experience of young retirees has its place at Barrière, where their expertise is a guarantee of excellence.”

By fostering generational exchanges and offering personalized career opportunities, the Barrière Senior Program not only strengthens teams but also positions Groupe Barrière as a forward-thinking employer dedicated to inclusivity and innovation in talent management.
