The project:

In 2024, easyHotel Glasgow City Centre underwent a complete renovation, reflecting the brand’s commitment to affordable, sustainable hospitality. Located on Hill Street, the 125-room property offers budget-friendly, minimalist accommodations, optimized for space and designed with eco-friendly materials. Guests enjoy en-suite compact rooms, including windowless options for additional savings, and a central location within walking distance of Glasgow’s main train stations and cultural landmarks.

The renovation, completed in April 2024, introduced a modern, low-carbon design. Rooms now feature 25 cm thick mattresses for added comfort, furnishings certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, and wallpapers made from 100% recycled plastics. Energy-efficient upgrades include the replacement of gas boilers with electric air-source heat pumps and the installation of solar panels, which generate 10% of the hotel’s electricity. These enhancements have reduced CO2 emissions by 38%, saving 25 tons annually compared to 2023.

The renovation also focused on reusing and recycling materials, such as transforming old furniture with upcycled aircraft seat covers. Improved security measures, including intercom systems and keycard-controlled access, ensure a safe and comfortable guest experience.

The project was executed with minimal disruption to guests, renovating one floor at a time while keeping the hotel operational. Completed under budget at £2.6 million, the renovation savings are reflected in the affordable pricing passed on to customers. Marketing efforts included a four-week poster campaign in Glasgow and a press release distributed in the UK and France, garnering media attention.

Since reopening, easyHotel Glasgow has experienced strong performance metrics, with a 21% increase in average daily rate (ADR) and a 34% growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR) compared to the same period in 2023. These results demonstrate the successful combination of affordability, sustainability, and enhanced guest experience, reinforcing easyHotel’s position as a leader in budget-friendly, eco-conscious hospitality.
