The project:

Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu has established itself as a leader in environmental sustainability, marking over 25 years of commitment. In February 2024, the hotel achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first in Quebec to receive a double certification from Green Key Global, earning 5 Keys under the new criteria and 5 Keys for Green Key Meetings. This recognition highlights its excellence in sustainable practices and eco-responsible events.

As the hotel celebrates its 125th anniversary, this achievement reflects a deep-rooted dedication to sustainability. To commemorate the occasion, Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu introduced responsibly sourced products, including artisanal gin and honey from its own beehives, developed in partnership with Hydromel Charlevoix. Additionally, collaborations with local businesses, such as Microbrasserie de Charlevoix and a local potter, have resulted in unique offerings like a signature beer and reusable coffee mugs, promoting waste reduction and supporting the regional economy.

The hotel’s environmental initiatives extend beyond certifications and products. Its beehive project, located in the Chef’s gardens, not only contributes to biodiversity but also educates guests on the importance of preserving bee populations. Through educational tours and partnerships, the hotel actively engages in raising awareness about sustainability within the Charlevoix region.

By combining eco-friendly practices, innovative local collaborations, and guest education, Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu continues to lead by example in the hospitality industry. Its actions underscore a commitment to both environmental stewardship and community engagement, laying a sustainable foundation for future generations.
