The project:
Launched in November 2023, Radisson Hotel Group’s “Move to Zero” campaign is an innovative global initiative aimed at educating and inspiring over 70,000 team members across 815 hotels in 95+ countries to contribute toward achieving the Group’s Net Zero by 2050 commitment. The campaign translates the Group’s decarbonization strategy into six actionable categories: energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, tree planting, vegetarian dining options, and eco-friendly transportation.
The campaign simplifies complex sustainability goals into practical daily actions, empowering employees to make meaningful contributions. Hotels received tailored checklists with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each category, ensuring that localized actions aligned with the global mission. Examples of impactful activities include the “4-Minute Shower Challenge,” which saved enough water for 46 people per session, and tree-planting initiatives, contributing over 10,000 trees in 2023.
The campaign also emphasized broad engagement and inclusivity. Leadership talks on decarbonization featured climate scientists, real estate consultants, and corporate partners, fostering dialogue on achieving Net Zero. Monthly newsletters reached over 126,000 recipients, while SharePoint discussions engaged 8,000 team members. Social media amplified the initiative, with 700 LinkedIn posts garnering 35,000 reactions and 105,000 impressions.
“Move to Zero” Week marked the campaign’s culmination, bringing together Radisson leadership and external stakeholders to discuss innovative ways to achieve sustainability goals. Results from the campaign were tangible, including a 4% reduction in energy footprint per square meter and a 5% decrease in water usage per occupied room compared to 2022.
By integrating sustainability into daily operations and fostering a collective spirit of responsibility, Radisson Hotel Group’s “Move to Zero” campaign sets a new standard in environmental protection, aligning employee engagement with measurable impact and pioneering a more sustainable hospitality industry.
