The Regent Hong Kong Grand Opening, held on November 8, 2023, celebrated the hotel's rebirth on Victoria Harbour, merging heritage and modernity. The immersive event, orchestrated by the hotel team and event agency "WhatIf," aimed to boost awareness of the reimagined property across global media and social channels.
The evening began with a gala dinner in the Regent Ballroom, followed by a glamorous party at The Lobby Lounge and Harbourside, featuring 400 attendees. Highlights included a vertical façade dance performed on the expansive Lobby Lounge windows, blending Hong Kong’s skyline into the performance. Musical acts like Strawhatz and local cultural performers enriched the ambiance, while culinary experiences spotlighted Hong Kong's rich traditions.
A VIP media preview the next day showcased the Presidential Suite's sophisticated design by Chi Wing Lo, emphasizing Regent’s commitment to understated luxury. The $1M event led to significant media coverage, with 1,615 placements across platforms, resulting in an estimated circulation of over 392 million and a media value exceeding $64M.
The economic impact was notable, with December 2023 occupancy surpassing 50% and room rates 40% higher than competitors. During Chinese New Year 2024, room rates exceeded the market by 45%.
The opening affirmed Regent Hong Kong’s commitment to innovation and guest experience, achieving accolades such as the EarthCheck Platinum Certification and features on Condé Nast Traveler's and Travel + Leisure's prestigious lists. Notable restaurant awards, including Michelin stars, highlighted the hotel’s culinary excellence, further establishing it as a premier luxury destination.
